ASD QMS Audit and Certification Process
Aviation, Space and Defense Quality Management System (ASD QMS) certification is carried out under the ICOP (Industry Controlled Other Party) scheme of the IAQG (International Aerospace Quality Group), covering the AS/EN 9100, AS/EN 9110 and AS/EN 9120 standards. The process is based on ISO/IEC 17021-1 and the AS 9101 and AS 9104 series standards.
1. Application
Applications are made with the ASD QMS Company Information Form (F-224). In addition to standard application details, sector-specific information is requested, such as the share of revenue from aviation, space and defense work, the number of employees engaged in this field, key ASD customers, the certification structure (single site, multi-site, campus, etc.) and any request for integrated/combined audits. The applicant authorizes the sharing of certification-related information in the OASIS database.
2. Application Review and Planning
YBM reviews the application in terms of scope, structure, personnel and competence requirements, determines the audit duration and programme, and prepares a quotation. A pre-audit may be carried out before certification if requested by the client.
3. Audits
The audit process consists of: pre-audit activities, the Stage 1 audit (assessment of documentation and readiness), the Stage 2 audit (assessment of implementation and effectiveness on site), surveillance audits and the recertification audit. Audits are reported in accordance with AS 9101; corrective action is required for any nonconformities identified, and their closure is a precondition for the certification decision.
4. Certification Decision and Certificate
Following a positive decision, a certificate is issued in accordance with AS/EN 9104-001 and the certification details are recorded in the OASIS database. The certificate is valid for three years, provided annual surveillance audits are concluded successfully; a recertification audit is performed at the end of the third year.
5. Surveillance, Changes and Sanctions
Throughout the certification cycle, surveillance audits monitor the continuity of the system. The scope of certification may be extended or reduced; where the requirements of the procedure are not met, the certificate may be suspended or withdrawn/cancelled. Transfer of certification from another certification body is also possible under this procedure.
